Rising Costs and Dying Car
The rising cost of gas and living expenses and the current failing health of my car just isn't a very good mix.
I took a drive out to BCIT today to get a few errands done. Gas today was 1.19/liter. Yuck - this rising cost of gas is definately not something I budgeted for, nor the ripple effects that its going to have on our economy. "Starving student" might just hit a little closer to home this year ... ha ha ha... then again that could be a new diet!!! =)
While driving out to BCIT my car took a little time to remind me that it old, and tired and just doesn't want to be out on the road anymore. And then, when I rejoined it in the parking lot after running my errands, it refused to start. "Come on baby!" I purred .... then pounded my fist against the dash... then apologized. We did this dance for a few minutes. Then... on my 5th try of the key... sparks flew....
Yes... this could turn out make for some interesting commutes.
So here's my newest thought. One that has been twisting and turning in my head.... my mind slowly chewing over. Perhaps I should move now. Move closer to school. Potentially get a roomate. I could keep my apartment, sublet it for the year. Potentially this could save me money on a monthly basis. But more importantly - it might not be such a burden on my car if I am only driving a short distance!?!?!
Too bad I didn't seriously consider this in the summer time. Moving while in school adds another facet to the whole story. But its seems that the true possibility of it is looming.
Should I just bite the bullet now?
Anyone know of someone with some spare space, or looking for a tenant? If so... let me know. I still need to let me brain chew on it a little more... but its good to know what my options are.
